Van Alarm Terms and Conditions of Service and Booking
Last updated: 29 September 2026
These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of vanalarm.co.uk and to products, bookings and installation services supplied under the Van Alarm brand.
"Van Alarm" is a trading name of Autonox Vehicle Security Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 17228362, with its registered office at 1 Cambridge Court, Harrowdene Road, Wembley, United Kingdom, HA0 2JW.
Throughout these Terms, “Van Alarm”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Autonox Vehicle Security Limited trading as Van Alarm. “You” and “your” mean the customer making the booking or purchasing the products or services.
By completing a purchase, accepting a quotation or asking us to proceed with a booking, you agree to these Terms.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights that cannot legally be limited or excluded.
1. Our services
Van Alarm supplies and installs vehicle-security products and related services, including:
Van alarm systems
Vehicle trackers
Immobilisers
Deadlocks and compatible security accessories
Dash cameras
Vehicle-security upgrades
Security consultations
Diagnostics and aftercare
The products available, their features and the services included may change from time to time.
2. Consumer and business customers
You are a consumer if you purchase mainly for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession.
You are a business customer if you purchase wholly or mainly for business purposes, including for a company, partnership, fleet, trade or self-employed business.
Certain consumer rights, including statutory cancellation rights for distance and off-premises contracts, do not apply to business customers.
If you book on behalf of a business, you confirm that you have authority to bind that business to these Terms.
3. Website use
You may use vanalarm.co.uk only for lawful purposes.
You must not:
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or its connected systems
Introduce viruses, malicious software or other harmful material
Use the website for fraudulent, abusive or unlawful activity
Scrape, copy or reproduce our website content without permission
Misuse our forms, messaging services or booking facilities
We may restrict or suspend access where we reasonably suspect misuse or a security risk.
We take reasonable care to keep the website available and accurate, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that every item of content will always be free from error.
4. Product information and images
We take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, specifications and prices are accurate.
Product photographs, diagrams and vehicle images are illustrative. The physical appearance, packaging, app interface or included accessories may change where a manufacturer updates a product.
Product features can depend on the vehicle’s make, model, age, specification, software, electrical architecture and existing modifications.
We will not make a material substitution without informing you and obtaining your agreement. If an agreed product becomes unavailable, you may choose an appropriate alternative or cancel the affected part of the order for a refund.
5. Vehicle information and compatibility
You must provide complete and accurate information about the vehicle, including its:
Registration number
Make and model
Year
Body style
Fuel type
Relevant modifications or conversions
Compatibility may depend on:
The exact vehicle specification and electrical system
Factory-fitted security and telematics
Vehicle software and manufacturer updates
Previous aftermarket installations
Conversions, modifications or damage
The condition of the vehicle and its battery
Compatibility checks performed before the appointment are based on the information available at that time. Final compatibility may only be established after the engineer has inspected the vehicle.
If the agreed installation is not technically suitable, lawful or safe, we may recommend an alternative product or installation method. You may accept the alternative or cancel the affected service.
If no work has been completed, we will refund the amount paid for the affected product or service, less any lawful deduction for separately supplied goods or services already provided at your request.
We are not responsible for additional costs caused by inaccurate, incomplete or withheld vehicle information, except where the issue should reasonably have been identified by us.
6. Quotations and acceptance
A quotation is valid for the period stated on it. If no period is stated, it will remain valid for 14 days.
Website prices and quotations may be changed before an order is accepted.
Your order is an offer to purchase. A binding contract is formed when we send written confirmation accepting the order or booking, or when we begin supplying the agreed products or services with your permission.
A booking request is not confirmed until we have accepted it and provided confirmation of the appointment or booking window.
Any important requirement that you tell us about and that we expressly accept will form part of the contract.
7. Prices, deposits and payments
The price payable is the price confirmed at checkout, on your invoice or in the accepted quotation.
Where VAT applies, the price will state whether VAT is included.
We may require a deposit, advance payment or full payment to secure an appointment or order products.
Any deposit or advance payment will be applied towards the total price.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, any outstanding balance is due no later than completion of the installation and before the vehicle is released from the engineer’s control.
We may suspend or cancel a booking if an agreed payment is not made when due.
Products remain our property until we have received full cleared payment. This does not affect your statutory rights.
If you pay through a finance or payment provider, your separate agreement with that provider will govern your repayment plan. Our invoice may show the full purchase price even where you pay the provider in instalments.
8. Additional work and unexpected conditions
Our quotation assumes that the vehicle is in a reasonably serviceable condition and has not been altered in a way that materially changes the work required.
Additional charges may apply where:
Undisclosed modifications or previous installations complicate the work
Damaged wiring, trim or electrical components require additional work
Additional interfaces, relays, modules, parts or specialist materials are required
The agreed location creates additional parking, access or travel costs
You request additional products or work
We will explain any material additional work and obtain your agreement before proceeding, unless immediate action is reasonably necessary to make the vehicle safe or prevent damage.
9. Booking and arrival windows
Appointment dates and arrival windows are estimates rather than guarantees unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.
Mobile engineers may be affected by traffic, road closures, weather, earlier appointments, safety requirements, fuel stops and legally required breaks.
The engineer will provide an estimated time of arrival where reasonably possible. You must remain available throughout the agreed arrival window.
We are not responsible for reasonable delays caused by events outside our control. We will keep you informed and, where necessary, offer a rearranged appointment.
You should not arrange onward work, vehicle sales, travel or other commitments that depend upon the installation being completed by an exact time unless we have expressly agreed that deadline in writing.
10. Installation location and parking
You must provide a safe, lawful and reasonably suitable place for the work.
The location must:
Provide sufficient space around the vehicle
Allow the engineer to open the doors, load area, bonnet and other access points
Be on stable and reasonably level ground
Be legally parked
Allow the vehicle to remain within the engineer’s sight and control
Be reasonably free from hazards, aggressive animals and avoidable interruptions
Private off-road parking is preferred.
We may refuse to work on a busy road, restricted highway, unsafe public area or any location where the engineer, vehicle or public would be placed at risk.
Any parking, toll, congestion or access charge applying specifically to your chosen location may be added to the booking where disclosed to you.
Where weather conditions make outdoor work unsafe or create a risk of damage to the vehicle or equipment, we may require suitable shelter or rearrange the appointment.
11. Vehicle access and condition
You must be present, or arrange for an authorised adult to be present, at the beginning and end of the appointment.
You must provide:
All vehicle keys required for testing
Access to the cab, load area, bonnet and relevant compartments
Wheel-locking keys or access codes where relevant
Any existing security tags, PINs or documentation reasonably required
A vehicle battery with sufficient charge to complete and test the installation
Please remove or secure cash, tools, stock, personal belongings and other valuables before the appointment.
You must tell the engineer about known electrical faults, warning lights, water leaks, damaged trim, previous wiring work and any other condition that could affect the installation.
The engineer may record the vehicle’s visible condition before work begins. You should point out any existing damage that you want specifically recorded.
12. Authority to approve the installation
You confirm that you own the vehicle or have the owner’s authority to approve the installation and any reasonably necessary modification.
If the vehicle is leased, financed, hired or owned by an employer or fleet operator, you are responsible for obtaining any consent required under that agreement.
We are not responsible for your failure to obtain third-party consent unless we expressly agreed to obtain it for you.
13. The installation process
Before work begins, the engineer will explain the main operation of the agreed system and provide a reasonable opportunity for you to ask questions.
If you wish to discuss an alternative product or change the work, you must do so before installation begins. Any change is subject to compatibility, availability and revised pricing.
Once work begins, the engineer must be allowed to work without avoidable interruption.
Following installation, we will test the system and provide a reasonable handover explaining its operation, including any tags, PIN sequence, app or account steps relevant to the product.
You must follow the operating instructions, protect your security credentials and tell regular drivers anything they need to know to use the system safely.
14. Confidential installation locations
Vehicle-security products are installed discreetly.
To protect your vehicle and the integrity of our installation methods, customers and other unauthorised people may not watch, record or photograph the installation process.
We do not normally disclose the precise installed location of concealed security equipment.
This restriction does not prevent you from inspecting the completed work where doing so would not compromise the security system or from exercising your legal rights.
15. Installation photographs and records
We may take photographs and create technical records before, during and after the installation for:
Quality control and internal audit
Installation verification
Technical support and fault diagnosis
Warranty and supplier requirements
Fraud prevention and complaint handling
Compliance with industry or accreditation requirements
Installation photographs will not be used for public marketing without a separate lawful basis or permission where required.
Records will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
16. Installation time
Any installation duration given is an estimate. The actual time will depend on the vehicle, product, access, condition and complexity of the work.
Many installations can be completed within approximately two hours, but some systems and vehicles require longer.
The engineer will not compromise safety or installation quality merely to meet an estimated completion time.
17. Vehicle trim, wiring and pre-existing issues
Security installations may reasonably require the removal and refitting of interior trim and connection to the vehicle’s electrical system.
We will use reasonable care and skill when carrying out this work.
Older, modified, previously repaired or damaged vehicles may have brittle clips, weakened trim, non-standard wiring or concealed defects.
If we identify a material risk before proceeding, we will discuss it with you where reasonably possible.
We are not responsible for pre-existing faults or damage that was not caused by a failure to use reasonable care and skill.
18. Product operation and customer responsibilities
You are responsible for:
Reading and following the operating instructions
Keeping PINs, override procedures, tags and account credentials secure
Testing the system as recommended
Replacing tag or remote batteries where required
Keeping app, contact and monitoring-account information up to date
Maintaining the vehicle and its main battery
Telling us promptly if the system behaves unexpectedly
You should test the security system after vehicle servicing, battery replacement, manufacturer software updates, accident repairs or electrical work.
Do not allow another installer or repairer to alter or remove our installation without first contacting us where reasonably possible.
Third-party interference may affect warranty or fault-diagnosis eligibility, but it does not remove any legal rights relating to faults caused by us.
19. Trackers, apps and monitored services
Some products require activation, registration, a mobile app, SIM connection or separate manufacturer or monitoring subscription.
Unless expressly included in the confirmed price, ongoing subscriptions, renewal fees, roaming charges and monitoring fees are separate from the installation price.
You are responsible for completing any activation steps identified during handover and keeping payments and contact details current.
Tracking, mobile connectivity, apps and monitoring platforms may depend on third-party networks and services. Temporary outages, maintenance and coverage limitations can occur.
Where we sell the subscription as part of your order, your statutory rights against us remain unaffected.
Where you contract directly with a third party, that provider’s terms will also apply to its service.
20. Manufacturer updates and vehicle changes
Vehicle software updates, manufacturer recalls, electrical repairs, replacement modules, body conversions and later aftermarket work may affect an installed system.
You should tell the garage, dealer or bodybuilder that aftermarket security equipment is fitted and contact us if the product stops operating correctly following other work.
Diagnosis or remedial work required because of a later vehicle change, third-party repair or software update may be chargeable where the issue was not caused by our product or workmanship.
21. Security limitations
Security products are designed to reduce risk, deter theft, detect events or support recovery.
No product can eliminate every method of theft or guarantee that a vehicle or its contents will not be stolen, entered or damaged.
Unless expressly stated in writing, we do not guarantee:
Prevention of theft, attempted theft or vehicle damage
Recovery of a stolen vehicle or its contents
Continuous availability of mobile networks, GPS, apps or third-party platforms
Acceptance by a particular insurer
A reduction in an insurance premium
Payment of an insurance claim
You must confirm your insurer’s requirements before purchasing. Product categories, approvals and required specifications vary between insurers and policies.
22. Goods, warranties and statutory rights
Products supplied by us are manufactured by third-party brands unless expressly stated otherwise.
Any manufacturer’s warranty is additional to your legal rights and is subject to its stated duration, exclusions and claim process.
As the retailer and installer, we remain responsible for our obligations under applicable consumer law. You may contact us where goods are faulty, not as described or not fit for a purpose made known to us.
We will perform installation services with reasonable care and skill.
Warranty cover does not normally include faults caused by:
Misuse
Accidental damage
Unauthorised interference
Water ingress not caused by our work
Vehicle faults
Poor vehicle maintenance
Depleted batteries
Third-party modifications
If inspection shows that a reported issue is unrelated to the supplied product or our installation, we may charge a reasonable diagnostic or call-out fee. We will explain the charge before completing chargeable work where reasonably possible.
Nothing in these Terms reduces your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable law.
23. Rescheduling or cancellation by you
Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.
If you cancel outside any applicable statutory cooling-off period, we may retain or charge only an amount that fairly reflects our direct losses resulting from the cancellation.
This may include:
Non-recoverable card or finance-provider charges where lawfully chargeable
Special-order or personalised goods that cannot reasonably be resold
Engineer travel already undertaken
Parking or access costs already incurred
Reasonable loss arising from an appointment that we could not refill despite taking reasonable steps
We will take reasonable steps to reduce our losses. We will not impose a disproportionate cancellation penalty.
Providing at least 48 hours’ notice will usually help us avoid or minimise cancellation costs, but the amount due will depend on the actual circumstances rather than notice alone.
If the engineer attends and cannot complete the work because you, the vehicle, the keys or a suitable installation location are unavailable, we may charge a reasonable aborted-visit fee reflecting the costs and time lost.
Where possible, we may offer to transfer your payment to a rearranged appointment instead of treating the booking as cancelled.
24. Consumer cooling-off rights
If you are a consumer and the contract was made online, by telephone or away from our business premises, you will normally have 14 days from the day after the contract is made to cancel a service contract without giving a reason.
Different timing may apply to goods supplied without installation.
To cancel, you must make a clear statement by email, telephone or another contact method shown on vanalarm.co.uk.
You may use the cancellation form at the end of these Terms, but you do not have to.
If you ask us to begin installation or another service during the 14-day cancellation period, you expressly request early performance of the service.
If you cancel after the service has begun at your express request, we may charge a proportionate amount for the service supplied up to cancellation.
If the service has been fully performed during the cancellation period following your express request and acknowledgement that your cancellation right would be lost following full performance, your right to cancel that completed service may end.
Your cooling-off rights do not remove your obligation to take reasonable care of goods, return cancellable goods where required or pay permitted return costs that were disclosed before purchase.
Some statutory exceptions apply, including to certain goods made to the customer’s specification or clearly personalised. We will not rely on an exception unless it lawfully applies.
25. Refunds
Any refund due will be made using the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise.
We will provide refunds within the period required by law.
After a product has been correctly installed, there is no automatic right to a refund merely because you change your mind.
This does not affect your rights if the product or service is faulty, misdescribed or otherwise does not conform to the contract.
Where removal is required as part of an agreed cancellation or remedy, you must provide reasonable access to the vehicle.
26. Rescheduling or cancellation by us
We may rearrange an appointment where reasonably necessary because of:
Engineer illness
Unsafe weather
Traffic disruption
Vehicle incompatibility
Parts availability
Events outside our reasonable control
We will provide as much notice as reasonably possible and offer a replacement appointment.
If we cannot supply the agreed product or service within a reasonable time, you may reject the proposed alternative and receive a refund for the affected part of the order.
We may refuse or stop work where:
The vehicle or location is unsafe
The work would be unlawful or technically inappropriate
Required information, access or authority has not been provided
Payment has not been made as agreed
A person at the appointment behaves in a threatening, abusive or discriminatory manner
Where work is refused or stopped because of your breach, we may charge for products and services already supplied and any reasonable direct loss caused by the breach.
Should the customer/client need to cancel a booking 24 hours notice is needed. Cancellations inside of 24 hours or instances of customer no-show (engineer shows up, customer does not) will result in a £200 cancellation fee
27. Complaints and aftercare
If you experience a problem, contact us promptly with:
Your full name
Vehicle registration
Installation address
Installation date
A clear description of the issue
We may first attempt diagnosis by telephone, video, photographs or app screenshots. This can resolve many operating or account issues without an additional visit.
Where an inspection is needed, you must provide reasonable access to the vehicle.
If the problem results from faulty goods or our failure to use reasonable care and skill, we will provide the remedy required by law.
If the issue is unrelated to our product or installation, we may offer chargeable assistance and will explain the likely cost before proceeding.
28. Liability to consumers
We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for a loss that could not reasonably have been foreseen when the contract was made or for loss caused by information, acts or omissions for which you are responsible.
If you are a consumer, we are not responsible for business losses such as loss of profit, revenue, contracts or commercial opportunity.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
Death or personal injury caused by negligence
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
Breach of rights that cannot legally be excluded
Any other liability that the law does not permit us to exclude
29. Liability to business customers
This section applies only where you are a business customer.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses or for loss of:
Profit
Revenue
Business
Contracts
Anticipated savings
Goodwill
Data
Use of a vehicle
Income arising from vehicle downtime
Subject to liabilities that cannot legally be limited, our total liability arising from an order will not exceed the total amount paid or payable to us for the product or service giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits any warranty or representation expressly confirmed by us in writing.
30. Events outside our control
Neither party will be responsible for delay or failure caused by an event outside its reasonable control.
This may include:
Severe weather
Road closures
Transport disruption
Fire or flood
Epidemic
Industrial action
Supplier failure
Telecommunications failure
Government action
Interruption to utilities
The affected party must take reasonable steps to reduce the impact.
If a material delay continues, either party may end the affected part of the contract. The customer will receive any refund required by law for products or services not supplied.
31. Privacy and communications
We process personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy published on vanalarm.co.uk.
We may contact you about your:
Enquiry
Order
Booking
Installation
Payment
Aftercare
Legally required notices
Marketing communications are sent only where we have a lawful basis to do so. You may opt out of marketing without affecting service communications relating to an existing order.
32. Intellectual property
The Van Alarm and Autonox names, logos, website content, graphics, photographs, copy, documents and designs belong to us or our licensors unless stated otherwise.
You may not reproduce, modify, distribute or commercially use this material without prior written permission, except as permitted by law.
33. Third-party links and services
Our website may link to third-party websites or services.
We are not responsible for third-party content, availability or privacy practices.
A link does not necessarily mean that we endorse every statement or service on the linked website.
34. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms for future orders to reflect changes in our services, business practices or the law.
The Terms applying to your order are those provided or available when the contract was made, unless a change is required by law or expressly agreed with you.
Updated Terms will be published on vanalarm.co.uk with a revised date.
35. Transfer of rights
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under a booking without our written agreement, except where the law allows otherwise.
We may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation where doing so does not reduce your contractual or statutory rights. We will notify you if this happens.
36. Severability and waiver
If any part of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining terms will continue to apply.
A delay in enforcing a right does not waive that right.
37. Governing law and courts
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you retain the benefit of any mandatory protections provided by the law of your home nation and may bring proceedings in the courts available to you under applicable law.
If you are a business customer, the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction unless we agree otherwise in writing.
